The reason why look for truth is because we think it exists. It’s a belief as fragile as any other. The following story, however, shows us a situation where truth is beyond dispute.
Noticing that his favourite gems are missing, the sultan gets angry and tells one of his wives:
“I will repudiate you if you do not tell me the truth. Did you steal my gemstones?”
The woman looks him straight in the eyes, and answers unflinchingly:
“I stole. I stole not.”
The sultan ponders for a second. He realises that his wife has told him the truth. He calms down and walks away.
